Another fine win for the Sharks against a determined AC Fulham side. Difficult windy conditions and a bobbly pitch didn’t help matters, but the boys managed to get their passing together and overcome a tough and quite physical AC Fulham team to run out convincing winners in the end.

The first half was testing, and the boys struggled to string much together, not helped by the wind and the uphill slope of the pitch.  But they kept plugging away and eventually got the breakthrough after a good move involving Wiktor, Nile and Ben, with Ben putting away a good left foot finish past the keeper to give the Sharks the lead at half time.

The second half was better as the flowing football returned. The Sharks created plenty of chances with Francis causing numerous problems down the left wing. Eventually Nile scored a second with a good strong run and finish, and Francis himself added a deserved third with a good side-foot finish from the edge of the box after a clever lay-off from Wiktor.

Defensively we were excellent again – with the impressive Alejandro marshalling things with his usual assurance.  Fulham had one especially skilful player who was put up front in the second half, but Alejandro dealt with him imperiously. Martin was his usual reliable and energetic self, getting forward to good effect and taking some dangerous corners as well as defending stoutly. Nile and Gabriel swapped roles throughout, with both acquitting themselves well at left back and as striker.

Jakub, standing in goal for Rory, was largely untroubled but was always alert to the danger, rushing from goal like a sweeper to clear up any long balls.

It’s the third game out of four that the boys have kept a clean sheet – a very impressive return.

So we’re still top of the table, with the most goals scored and the second fewest conceded. Well done Sharks – we’re playing some great football and showing some terrific teamwork.  Let’s keep it up.

A tough friendly next week against a good Manorcroft United side from Division 1 – should be an interesting test for all!
