Match Report by By Ben

A tough start to the cup as the Sharks came face to face with the Worplesdon Rangers Piranhas, from the Super league – the highest ranked team we could have drawn. Considering the league difference between the teams we had all agreed it was going to be a difficult game.

The start of the match was a shock for the Sharks as we went down by 2 goals within the first 5 minutes after a slow start.  Although losing, we were not going to let our heads drop this early on.  We came into our own a little as the half wore on, but it was a harsh half, and we ended it 4-0 down.  But it felt like we were gaining some confidence.

Gabriel arrived at half time and with some switching of positions to begin the second half, we were anxious to start.  For 15 minutes or so, we looked like the better side. Then Alejandro quickly picked up the ball in the centre, and played a pinpoint pass to Joe, who used his immense pace to outrun the defender and slot the ball smoothly past the keeper. It was a good goal, during a good spell for the Sharks.  But it would be our only one. Our opposition then found their form, and heads naturally began to drop in the Sharks as the Piranhas scored some quick goals to make it 9-1 by full time.

So we’re out of the cup but it was a good reaction from the team after a shaky start. Back to our main focus, next week, the league.
